About Tommy
Tommy, also known as Bboy Invalido, is a professional breaking and teacher with over 24 years of experience. Born with arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (AMC), a congenital condition affecting joint flexibility and muscle growth, Tommy discovered breaking at a young age, and it quickly became his first lesson in the power of trusting the process and maintaining a positive mindset. Through breaking, he learned that with full commitment and consistent practice, no matter how impossible something may seem, you can achieve incredible results – even miracles. This understanding has been a guiding force for Tommy throughout his journey, helping him navigate the challenges, setbacks, and obstacles he has encountered along the way.
Throughout his career, Tommy has performed at numerous festivals, including the Sundsvall's Festival and Showcase at Subtopia, and he has been a key organiser of events such as the We’re Jammin’ series and the multi-year Nord2Nord hip-hop project, a youth initiative between Sweden and Russia. In 2015, he premiered his self-biographical performance, Trippy Life, at Dansens Hus in Stockholm, sharing his journey and passion for dance with a wide audience.
Tommy has also performed with ILL-ABILITIES, a globally recognised crew of differently-abled dancers founded in 2007. Together they challenge perceptions of disability by focusing on their incredible dance skills, inspiring people worldwide through performances and motivational programs.
Beyond performing, Tommy is deeply committed to teaching. He has held various workshops and worked as a dance instructor at Nacka Dans & Teater, Cirkus Cirkör, where he taught inclusive dance classes for people with disabilities. His contributions to inclusive arts were further recognised through the No Limits Sweden project, which received three years of support from the Sports Administration Department of the City of Stockholm Municipality
Tommy has embraced dance as both a passion and a way to inspire others. His motto, "No excuses, no limits, trust the process," is a testament to his dedication to self-improvement, both physically and mentally.
Tommy is currently working on a self-biography, and he continues to break boundaries in both the dance world and disability advocacy, encouraging all to push past limits and embrace their full potential.
